Football bosses have been accused of being tougher on lateness than dealing with racism after fining Manchester City almost £25,000.
European football’s governing body Uefa announced the punishment for City’s players taking to the field a minute late for their second-half against Sporting Lisbon.
The fine was almost £10,000 more than another Portuguese side, Porto, were ordered to pay for their fans’ racist abuse of City players.
City pair Mario Balotelli and Yaya Touré were the victims of monkey taunts when they played Porto in a Europa League clash in February.
